Meet The Team: The Series
Welcome to Meet The Team! What is your name and how long have you worked for Arema Connect?
Katie Murphy. I joined the Arema Connect Team in January 2018, on my Marketing placement from Munster Technological University.
What is your official role title?
Marketing Manager
What does your day-to-day role entail?
I oversee all things Marketing in Arema Connect with the help of the wonderful Edel including the ownership of the organisation’s Marketing strategy, the creation and delivery of campaigns, Social Media and Website Management. I support various sales activities including – the completion of Tenders and Sales proposals.
Other duties include: coordinating Arema Connect’s ISOs (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2013 and ISO 14001:2015). The delivery of Market Research Campaigns on behalf of clients. From time to time I also dip my toes in any HR related tasks required.

What is something that Arema Connect does that differs from other companies in the same field?
Flexibility – we can meet client requests in fast turnaround times. We are also a very people focused organisation, you’re more than just a number.
How would you describe the company culture at Arema Connect?
Friendly and collaborative
What are some of the essential skills for someone working with Arema Connect to have?
Being a team player and enjoy working with people.
What has been your most memorable moment while working with Arema Connect?
There has been several down through the years – winning tenders, being shortlisted in the annual industry (CCMA) awards and progressing to the role of Marketing Manager.
What challenges have you faced?
Transitioning from an Executive Role to a Management role, it took me some time to find my feet but I enjoyed the challenge all the same.
What advice would you give to someone who would like a career like yours?
There’s a few –
- Be creative – think outside the box.
- Keep learning and continue to develop new skills and grow your knowledge base (Knowledge is power)
- Take chances
- Grab opportunities with both hands
- Believe in yourself and work hard to get to where you want to be.
- Never under estimate what Canva can do for you!
What motivates you in the morning? Do you have to have a cup of coffee, listen to a podcast etc
Coffee, a scroll to see what’s happening in the world, some music and a to do list.
Do you have a favourite podcast/playlist that you listen to?
My Therapist Ghosted Me is definitely top of the list!

It’s hard to choose just 3 but some of my favs would be –
- Step Brothers
- Pretty Woman

- Any of the Harry Potter franchise.
- Bad Boys.

Favourite spot in Cork to visit?
Páirc Uí Chaoimh for a concert or a game or Kinsale on a sunny day.
