At Arema Connect, we place an emphasis on being an environmentally friendly and sustainable partner. We have been certified with ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management since 2020. This standard has enabled us to put procedures in place to help us protect and care for the environment in which we operate. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) compels us to seek out areas for continuous improvement.
In 2022 we partnered with Blue Planet Consulting to gain greater insights and understanding into our current environmental performance. In August 2022, we carried out Sustainability & ESG assessment. An ESG assessment is a measure of how a business is performing on several Environmental, Social and Governance matters.
The ESG assessment enabled us to calculate our performance score with respect to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. The project involved collecting essential information, which was used to calculate our overall score. We collected information on the following –
- Building electricity use;
- Building fuel consumption;
- Transport fuel consumption;
- Waste management;
- Refrigeration gas consumed;
- Water usage;
- Employee commuting;
- Policies, Procedures and Standards we have in place.
Results
Over the course of 2023, we are hoping to improve our carbon footprint. Our ESG performance assessment will enable us to –
- Identify priority areas on which to focus to improve performance;
- Explore opportunities for measurable reductions in our carbon footprint;
- Identify bottom-line benefits through cost savings in transport, energy and waste disposal;
- Understand our sustainability & ESG policies’ current status and identify gaps.
The benefits of partnering with a sustainable provider
- Strengthen an organisation’s public image – Maintaining sustainable practices internally shows a commitment to environmentally friendly practices. These standards should be shared by all stakeholders. Partnering with a green supplier further demonstrates an organisation’s devotion to sustainability.
- Increased Employee Satisfaction – Businesses that partner with a sustainable organisation can increase employee satisfaction levels. Many employees feel happier and more engaged by their workplace’s ethical behaviour by choosing an environmentally friendly supplier.
- Lessen your organisation’s impact on the planet further – By choosing an environmentally friendly organisation you can lessen harmful impacts on the planet. Green partners will most likely have practices in place to reduce energy consumption, sustainable material resourcing and recycling.
‘If every company makes small changes it will have a major impact’ – Pat Keogh, Managing Director
