At Arema Connect, we place an emphasis on giving back to the local community. In recent times we understand that it has been more difficult for charities and clubs to fundraise, and now more than ever these organisations rely on the generosity of the general public and businesses in order to survive. We are always happy to support in any way that we can. Some of our recent fundraisers have included – The My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue and a recent donation to the 96fm Radiothon for Cork Cancer Services which were both very worthy causes.
Our team is always looking for different clubs and organisations to get involved with. We are delighted to announce our recent sponsorship of the Delany’s Junior Football Team who are based not too far from our offices, in Blackpool, Cork.
Overview of Delaney’s Club –
The Delanys club was formed in 1949 in Kilbarry, Cork which is located on the top of Dublin Hill. Delanys is a small family GAA club that competes in Hurling, and both Ladies and Men’s Football attracting Juvenile and Senior players from Dublin Hill, Blackpool and Ballyvolane areas. Some of the club’s achievements include –
- Winning the Intermediate Hurling Championship in Cork and getting the opportunity to play Senior Championship.
- The club’s Junior B hurlers won the city division of the championship in 2020 and have a County Final to look forward to in the coming weeks.
- Delany’s have been represented at intercounty level down through the years, names to note include – Barry Egan who won an All-Star with Cork, John O Driscoll who played full back for the intercounty set up. More recently Conor Quinlan is now coaching the Cork Senior Ladies Football Team which is a huge achievement for the club.
Delany’s recent achievements have spurred on the club’s underage structure which is now growing each week. This year the club has an Under 12 team taking part in a league for the 1st time in over 15 years. Dealny’s Ladies club is also growing after a recent amalgamation with their neighbours St.Vincent’s.
“In the current climate we know it is very hard for businesses to be able to sponsor clubs and we were blown away with the generosity of Arema Connect who sponsored jumpers, jerseys, shorts and socks for our junior team which was a huge moral boost to the lads who have also found it hard through the pandemic as we couldn’t train or play matches. Without sponsors like Arema Connect clubs like Delanys would find it hard to survive. We have set up a club shop with the manufacturers of the Gear, BOF sports so now it is not only the players that will be able to advertise Arema Connect but our supporters can also wear the gear with pride.” – Ger Maher, Delany’s Club Secretary
“We are delighted to sponsor the Delany’s Club, Junior Football Team. The Delany’s club is located not too far from our offices in Blackpool which made the sponsorship a great fit. The last 2 years have been very tough on everyone and we are delighted to help out in a small way as it is difficult to fundraise during the current pandemic. The club had a very successful 2020 and we hope that this success continues for the foreseeable future” – Pat Keogh, Managing Director, Arema Connect
No doubt that the players, management teams, volunteers and supporters are eager to return to competitive games in the coming weeks after a much longer break between seasons than usual. We would like to wish all the Delany’s teams the very best of luck for the season ahead. Delany’s has gained a new fan club from Arema Connect and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership with the club into the future.
