At Arema Connect we place an emphasis on giving back to the community in which we operate by supporting local charities and initiatives. Throughout the year we hold fundraisers to support many worthy causes, these have included MS Ireland, Alzheimer’s Ireland and The Simon Community. As many of the Arema Connect team are both pet owners and animal lovers, we felt that this time it would be fitting to fundraise for an animal charity – the My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue (MLHR).
With locations in Cork and Dublin the MLHR is an animal welfare organisation that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes unwanted, neglected, and abused animals. The rescue aims to give each animal a life worth living by providing a suitable environment, as well as veterinary care when needed to make each animal safe and comfortable.
The care of these animals is an ongoing and expensive process that solely relies on fundraising and donations. Due to Covid-19 many of the fundraisers typically held on behalf of the rescue have been cancelled or rescheduled so donations are needed more than ever. There are several ways that you can support the MLHR including volunteering, making a donation and hosting a corporate day.
Initially, we set a fundraising target of €300 and within the first few hours of launching the GoFundMe page we had met and surpassed this target, which was hugely rewarding. After a week of fundraising, the whole team is thrilled to have raised €1,100 for the MLHR. Arema Connect rounded it off to €2000.
On Saturday, Katherine Sutton (Client Development Manager), Nuala Keogh (Financial Director) and Katie Murphy (Marketing Manager) were given the opportunity to visit the MLHR Farm in Cobh to present the cheque. Our team was given a tour of the farm by Kelly and got to meet horses and ponies big and small who have been rescued by the organisation.
‘It was an amazing experience getting to visit the My Lovely Horse Rescue on Saturday with my colleagues. Being an animal lover it was great to hear so many success stories of horses and ponies that have been successfully rescued and rehomed by the organisation. From visiting the farm, you can see firsthand that each of the horses and ponies are showered with love and care by Kelly and her team. I would highly recommend anyone who is in a position to get involved by donating or volunteering. Love is most definitely a four-legged word! ‘ Katie Murphy – Marketing Manager
A huge thank you to our Client Development Manager, Katherine Sutton and our Lean and Quality Coordinator, Jackie Leahy for organising the fundraiser and to all of our team members and the wider community for their very generous donations. We hope that the funds raised will help and support many of our four-legged friends!
