Last Friday we hosted our annual Staff Awards and Quiz night in Sunday’s Well. Our internal awards are a great way to recognise our team’s efforts and achievements throughout the year. The Arema team is given the opportunity to vote for their colleagues which they feel deserve special recognition in different aspects of their work. This year’s award categories included The Helping Hand, The Invincible, The HIGH Five, Colleague of the Year and The Budding Star.

The Helping Hand was awarded to a team member with a positive attitude, someone who is viewed as a fountain of knowledge and the go-to for help. Lisa Brooks was the unanimous winner as voted by her colleagues. Lisa constantly guides her teammates in the right direction and is always there for support, especially for new recruits. Lisa has been a member of the team for the last 17 years and her experience is hugely beneficial to both her colleagues and Arema Connect.

The Invincible category was awarded to an individual, who remains calm under pressure and always remains optimistic. Aoife O Mahony bagged The Invincible award for this year. Aoife is a Team Leader for one of our multinational client accounts and her ability to effectively manage the high seasonal peaks associated with this account made her deserving of “The Invincible” title.

The HIGH Five was awarded to a team player, someone who continuously strives for customer satisfaction and goes above and beyond for both their teammates and customers. Rachel Aherne deservingly received The High Five award for 2020. She strives to continually surpass the expectations of both her teammates and clients.

Colleague of the Year was Matthew O Shea. This was awarded to Matthew for always performing tasks beyond his job description to benefit both Arema Connect and his teammates. Matthew is always on hand to assist his colleagues and is a great character around the office.

In addition to these categories, our Management team gives special recognition to “The Budding Star”, a new team member who has excelled in their new role. This year Lucy O’Sullivan received this award. From the get-go, Lucy has consistently enhanced her service performance and exceeded expectations, becoming a highly valued star on our team.

The staff quiz has become somewhat of a tradition at Arema Connect. This year 10 teams battled it out for bragging rights for the year. After 9 competitive rounds, the ‘Simple Minds’ were victorious, consisting of Ciara O’Brien, Daniel O’Donovan, Nuala Keogh and Louise Dillon.  The runners up were The Beyonce Know-alls made up of Sharon Sheehan, Lucy O Sullivan, Aoife O Mahony, and Grace Finn. Some of the other teams included Victorious Secret, The Birthday Bombs, and The Cats Pyjamas.

Throughout the year we place a strong emphasis on staff engagement, this is reflected in the fact that we have one of the highest staff retention rates in the industry. These social events play a pivotal role in our staff engagement strategy in addition to training courses, our PSYCHED initiative and one to one feedback sessions with all team members. It also allows our teams from all of our offices to catch up in a social setting.

“We place a huge emphasis on staff engagement and wellbeing initiatives. As a people focused organisation we ensure that we hold several events to keep our staff engaged. Our annual Staff Awards and Quiz night is a great way for us to give recognition to individuals who have performed duties far beyond their roles. And the whole team looks forward to Quiz Night and fun that it brings about.“ Nuala Keogh, Finance and HR Director.

We would like to congratulate all the award winners and nominees. A huge thanks to our Managing Director, Pat Keogh for organising the night!
