From Ireland to USA with love… Arema Connect’s USA journey!
Ambition is defined as the ‘desire and determination to achieve success’ and to create successful partnerships is one of our key motivators at Arema Connect.
On the 11th of May, Enterprise Ireland organized an event “Ambition: North America” at the Aviva Stadium (Dublin, Ireland). As part of Arema Connect’s “exporting to USA” route map, our Managing Director Pat Keogh attended. The main objective was to learn from companies who had travelled this road and were successful in their strategy.
“Ambition: North America”: An Enterprise Ireland Event
Pat Keogh, Managing Director of Arema Connect, attended on the 11th of May to the ‘Ambition: North America’ event. The conference was organized by Enterprise Ireland and it provided an overview of the market and sector opportunities in the US and Canada for Irish companies. The event included informational panels and sector specific round tables. The main speakers provided practical and down to earth insights on what pitfalls and challenges would need to be overcome when targeting the US and Canadian markets in general.
Lessons Learned from the event
The main reason for attending the event was to learn from industry leaders such as Denis Brosnan, founder Kerry Group and find out first hand how they became so successful. The main thread from each of the speakers was to concentrate on a specific geographical area with a specific product offering. They all mentioned the ‘Loose Brick’ approach. That is identify a market sector with potential that may have been overlooked or too small for the bigger players and keep going until you have got a small chunk of the market.
Specific topics discussed during the event included:
- Company exporting readiness advice – key points included the importance of market research, applying for work visa’s, advantages & disadvantages of hiring local or relocating Irish people.
- Selling strategies – the case for hiring an agent / distributor or selling direct.
- USA and Canada Exporting Forecast
- Legal Requirements
